Breakup Dynamics of Droplets in Symmetric Y-Junction Microchannels

The experimental method is used to study the droplet breaking characteristics of an immiscible liquid–liquid t8wo-phase fluid in symmetric Y-junction microchannels. Silicone oil as dispersed phase and distilled water containing 0.5% SDS continuous phase. Three breakup behaviors were observed: with permanent obstruction, gaps, no breakup. Two stages change neck width sub-droplet during process discovered: a rapid stage thread stage. effect behavior on flow pattern was investigated it found that droplets made slug area smaller; further, new observed, being flow. length increases increase volume rate ratio phase, while decreasing capillary number Based influence two-phase parameters sub-droplet, correlation formula for good predictive performance proposed.
